Each section is open to players from within and outside of Leicestershire.  The winners of each section shall receive a suitably engraved trophy which is theirs to keep. 

The highest finishing Leicestershire player shall also receive a trophy to keep and shall hold their title for one year.

Grades

Grades published in the August 2007 ECF list will be used for this tournament.

 

Time Control

Each player shall have 30 minutes to make all of their moves.

Re-pairing will take place 15 minutes after the start of a round.

 

Venue and Directions

 

Wyggeston College is close to Leicester City Centre, just 15 minutes walk from the train station.  Turn left outside the station, walk up London Road and turn right in front of the church into University Road. Walk past the De Montfort Hall and the university, and turn left at the top of the hill into Wyggeston Drive. Continue straight ahead to the College's main entrance.

 

From M1 (South)/M69 Junction 21:

Take the A5460 towards Leicester, and move into the left-hand lane, ready to filter first left, and then left again onto the A563, Outer Ring Road. Follow this road for 4 miles, crossing over two roundabouts. At the junction with the A50/A5199 Northampton road, turn left, following signs to the City Centre. Follow the Welford Road for 1.4 miles to the junction with University Road. This junction is at the fourth set of lights, after playing fields on the right. Take the first right, signed University Entrance 1, and then turn right at the mini-roundabout into the College car park.

 

From M1 (North) Junction 22:

Follow the A50 for 8 miles into the city. At the Central Ring Road, turn right and follow A50/A5199 signs to Northampton through an underpass and one-way system. Follow the road uphill and over the railway, and turn left at the next lights into University Road. Take the first right, signed University Entrance 1, and then turn right at the mini-roundabout into the College car park.

 

From A47 Peterborough:

Shortly after the City of Leicester sign and the 30mph restriction sign, turn left into Spencefield Lane. Continue along this road – it becomes Evington Lane and then Evington Road - for 2.9 miles until it meets London Road (A6). At the lights here, continue straight across into Granville Road. Turn left at the next lights into University Road. Cross the next set of lights and then take the second left turn, Wyggeston Drive. At the mini-roundabout, turn right into the College car park.

 

Refreshments

 

We shall again be offering catering facilities providing soft drinks, tea and coffee as well as snacks, sandwiches, crisps and chocolate etc.

 

Smoking

 

No smoking is allowed within the college buildings.

 A bookstall will be provided by Chess Direct.
